Un buen jurista debe manejar a la perfección algunos conceptos básicos e imprescindibles.

La jurisdicción universal es un mecanismo que todo buen jurista debe conocer. Además de los procedimientos nacionales, conocer este tipo de instrumentos es lo que puede hacer que te diferencies en materias como Derecho Penal.

Es el instrumento que permite a la justicia investigar delitos ocurridos en otros lugares del mundo. Los principales mecanismos para poner en práctica la justicia internacional han sido: Corte Penal Internacional: tribunal permanente que investiga y juzga los crímenes de derecho internacional, Tribunales nacionales que aplican el principio de jurisdicción universal, Tribunales especiales internacionales o para situaciones concretas. España hasta el año 2014 fue pionera en jurisdicción universal pero a partir de ese año se reformó la Ley Orgánica de Poder Judicial y actualmente existen muchas limitaciones a la práctica de este ejercicio.
